Restorative Yoga

Practice and Benefits

Restorative Yoga involves the use of multiple props to support the body into the various poses. These props can include yoga blocks, bolsters, blankets, and straps, and can facilitate the process of restoration by allowing students to find deeper comfort in the poses.

The extra support allows students to stay comfortably in the poses for several minutes and release deeply held patterns of tension and holding. The combination of supported positions practiced can help to support digestive, endocrine, respiratory, and immune health.

Many of the chronic health challenges that people face today are stress induced and continue to be aggravated by stress. Life is busier and more stressful today than ever before in human history, and people today are dealing with more chronic health conditions than ever before.

Restorative yoga allows the necessary support, time and space for the body to rest more deeply, breathe more easily, and process and unwind from these varied stressors, and to restore the healthy function of all the essential physiological systems of the body.
